Конференция аспирантов «Sapiens Ubique Civis» пройдет в Сегеде 28-31 августа 2013 г.  Тематика конференции: история древней Греции и древнего Рима, античная литература, классическая филология, философия, лингвистика, археология, а также византиноведение и неолатинские исследования. Заявки (тезисы — до 300 слов) принимаются до 14 мая 2013 г. Уведомления о рассмотрении заявок будут разосланы до 21 мая 2013 г. Языки конференции: английский, немецкий. На каждый доклад выделяется по 20 минут (и 5 минут на обсуждение). Регистрационный взнос — 40 евро. Планируется публикация докладов в 31 томе «Acta Universitatis Szegediensis Acta Antiqua et Archeologica».

PhD Student Conference in Classical Studies
Szeged Hungary, August 2013

The Department of Classical Philology and Neo-Latin Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Szeged, Hungary is pleased to announce its International PhD Student Conference Sapiens Ubique Civis — Szeged 2013. The aim of the conference is to bring together an international group of young scholars working in a variety of periods, places, languages and fields. Papers on a wide range of classical subjects, including but not limited to the literature, history, philology, philosophy, linguistics and archaeology of Greece and Rome, as well as Byzantinology and Neo-Latin studies are welcome.

Conference date and place: August 28-31, 2013, Szeged, Hungary

Abstracts: The abstracts of papers to be presented in English or German are invited for consideration by the Conference Committee. Please submit your title and abstract (up to 300 words) with your personal data (name, affiliation, e-mail) until April 30, 2013 via e-mail to the following address: sapiensuc@gmail.com. Acceptance notification will be sent to you till May 21, 2013.

Lectures: The official languages of the conference are English and German. The time limit for each lecture is 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion.

Programme: Thematic sessions and plenary lectures will be scheduled over four days. The conference programme will be available on the website of the Department: http://primus.arts.u-szeged.hu/cla.

Registration: The registration fee for the conference is EUR 40 / HUF 11 000. Payment should be made by bank transfer after the acceptance of the papers. The participation fee includes: conference proceedings, reception meal (will be specified later) and refreshments during coffee breaks. The participation fee does not include accommodation, but the Conference Organizing Committee will assist the conference participants with finding accommodation in the city centre of Szeged.

Publication: All papers will be considered for publication in the 31st volume of the Acta Universitatis Szegediensis Acta Antiqua et Archeologica, which is due to be published in early 2014.

Getting there: Szeged, the largest city of Southern Hungary, can be easily reached by train from Budapest and the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (formerly known as Ferihegy Airport), trains starting every hour between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. Those who prefer travelling by car can choose the European route E75, and then should take the Hungarian M5 motorway, a section of E75, passing by the city.
