Classics Postgraduate Conference:
Training and Research in Material Culture Related to the Ancient World

University of St Andrews
March 20th – 21st 2015

The StAGE committee is now accepting abstracts for StAGE 2015, to be held over two days at the University of St Andrews on March 20th– 21st 2015. The conference theme, ‘Training and Research in
Material Culture Related to the Ancient World’, aims to bring together postgraduates and professionals working at museums, universities, and similar institutions in fields related to the
material culture of the ancient world (which may include numismatics, papyrology, museum curation, epigraphy, forensic anthropology, and virtual reality reconstruction). These professionals will lead
workshops designed to provide insight and training in these areas, which may not otherwise be accessible through universities.

Interspersed with these workshops, we hope to highlight current postgraduate research in fields related to the study of the ancient world, following the usual pattern of the StAGE conference. We
encourage papers with topics relating to the abovementioned fields of material culture, though this is not a requirement. Papers on all disciplines of Classics are welcome. Each paper is expected to last
about twenty minutes, followed by ten minutes for questions, in a friendly, relaxed environment. The papers will be selected by the committee based on the abstracts submitted.

Abstracts are expected to be 250 words maximum excluding any preliminary bibliography. Abstracts should be submitted no later than January 17th, 2015. Please submit abstracts to

We are able, through the generous assistance of the SGSAH, to provide travel bursaries and overnight accommodation for postgraduates giving papers. Refreshments and lunch on both days will also be
provided.
